The Northampton Town Roses are blooming this Spring!

As you’ll all know by now (but hopefully not yet be sick of hearing about!), 2015 is the national centenary of the Women’s Institute and here at the Northampton Town Roses HQ, we’re using it as an excuse to have as much fun as possible! We’ve already taken on the Bradlaugh pub quiz and almost, but not quite, conquered it (we think fourth place is quite impressive for our first attempt), and at our February meeting the amazingly talented Chris Kinsey showed us how to paint folk-art floral wreaths. Chris was a truly inspirational teacher, and I think we were all in agreement that she could easily go into a career in stand-up comedy if she ever gets fed up with painting 🙂

But the best is yet to come! And next month’s meeting is going to be brilliant!

Monday 9th March will see us host our Awesome Open Evening; this meeting will celebrate all things fabulous about our group and if you’re not already a member, wash away any doubts you had about joining! We’ll be joined by our lovely County Federation Chair, Sue Kendall, there will be lots of information to help answer all those niggling questions you may have about the WI and, best of all, there will be lots of fun workshops to have a go at. Louise will be demonstrating how to make felted beads, Ruth will be making earrings and Jenny will be overseeing a cupcake decorating challenge. We’ll also be upcycling glass jars into gorgeous lanterns and there will be a quiz with a mystery prize. All this will be crammed into our usual meeting time of 7.30 – 9.30pm, so make you arrive early and bring some friends with you too!

Remember, if you’ve not been before it’s completely free of charge and there’s the usual guarantee of tea, cake and a friendly face, so there’s absolutely no excuse – we’ll see you there!
