The Northampton Town Roses WI committee is responsible for running the group. We’ve now got a new, bigger and better committee for the coming year, with lots of ideas as to how to make the Roses the very best it can be!
All committee members must be full members and are generally opted in October at our AGM. However if you’re interested in joining our committee, just let us know as we always welcome new additions!
Here are our lovely committee ladies for 2017:
Ruth Taylor – President
“My name is Ruth Taylor and I am in my fifth year as president of the Northampton Town Roses WI, although I have been in the group since its first official meeting in 2011. So a bit about me… I’m a 30-something who loves crafting in all sorts of mediums, as well as an avid follower of the Northampton Saints (and as you see from the picture I sometimes combine the two).”
“Hello, I’m Louise and as of October 2014 a fully-fledged committee member of the Northampton Town Roses! After a couple of years in the role of Secretary I have handed those reigns over to the fabulous Gwynith, but am keen to still help out in any way I can. The Roses is a constant source of fun, friendship and heaps of cake and I couldn’t wish to be part of more lovely group of women. During the day I work for the Woodland Trust, working to inspire and connect people with trees, woodlands and wildlife across central England..”
“Hello my name is Jenny and I’m a WI returnee. I was in my village WI when my children were small and loved the opportunity to get out and about and meet new people. I’ve been with the Roses for about 2 years, after searching for a town centre group to join. I’m loving it as much as I always did and especially enjoy trying new things and making firm friends. Come and join us and share in the fun!”
“Hi, I’m Gwynith and am proud to say I was involved in the setting up of Northampton Town Roses W.I. back in October 2011. After a while away, I am back and loving it! Northampton born and bred, I have 2 grown up children and a toddler grandson, (and a dog), and enjoy crafting, reading, family history and photography.”
Hello my name is Margaret Simmons. I am from Northampton where I have lived all my life. I am a widow and have a son and a daughter and four grandchildren. My hobbies are cross stitching, reading and spending time with friends.
“Hello my name is Debbie Briggs and I’m fairly new to the WI, joining Northampton Town Roses in 2016. I have a wonderful husband, four grown up sons and three grandchildren. I am a Complementary Therapist and Acupuncturist and love volunteering for Cynthia Spencer Hospice. My hobbies are anything to do with crafting and making things…this year I want to try wood turning!”
